Why Fitness Matters
Fitness matters to me because it improves my life and has improved the life of my clients. Being fit makes everything in my life easier, I have more energy, it makes my hobbies easier, it makes me more capable of traveling and having a good work out is a good stress relief. In regards to my clients, I have helped many clients from all walks of life. Helping them get fit has meant less pain in their bodies, lower chance of injury, improved posture and better self-confidence. Fitness has been life changing for some clients.
Why I'm Working at NZIHF
As a personal trainer, I have noticed that there are a lot of personal trainers out there who do not focus on really important aspects of personal training. Many courses, in my opinion, do not teach the right or enough skills personal trainers need. So, I want to make a difference to the personal trainers coming into the industry.
How I Work with Students and the Industry
Working with trainers requires a lot of practical work. In my years as a personal trainer, there are many things I have noticed trainers not doing, so I like to focus on equipping the students in my class with those skills. One example of this is the practical sessions where I take students through stretching and trainer assisted stretching. I also like to spend time pushing students on what they have been studying and challenging them to think outside of the box when dealing with clients.
